this invasion most certainly did not happen spontaneously. as the survivors were marched forward, it became terrifyingly clear that the hostile takeover of this land they loved so much had been underway for some time. through the clearing of the tangled brush that was now devoid of all trace of leaves & flowers appeared a large enclosure. it was filled with tents & a large structure that looked like a hospital. the group looked at each other. where did this come from? when?
without hesitation the answer came. 'it's been here from the beginning. you just couldn't see it. we didn't want you to see it.' somehow they knew this to be true. but how? what strange magic was this? and what else had they not be able to see?
when they entered what could only be described as a camp, they were immediately separated into groups. men. women. children. infants were allowed to stay with mothers if this was the only food source available to them. the screams & cries of panic & desperation were enough to break the hearts of anyone with even an ounce of empathy yet the invaders were completely unphased.
once separated, they were assigned living quarters. 4 to a tent for children, 3 for adults. they were instructed to change into the garments provided no the small, sterile cots. the clothing looked more like loose gauze wrap. you wouldn't hide much in these. when the emerged, they noticed there were 4 colors - a dull white, olive green, navy blue and khaki. Teams? they were instructed to move toward the large building & enter the door that corresponded to the uniform. they would be fed there.
the food was not particularly inviting. more like mush. after eating, the white group fell right to sleep. They green went silent & felt euphorically calm. The blue sat down & began to cry softly while the khaki began to feel rage yet were paralyzed & couldn't do a thing.
